Applications to Conduct Research in LBUSD

Thank you for your interest in conducting research and/or data collection in LBUSD. Effective October 1, 2024, applications from outside the district will not be considered. The exceptions are:

  • Current LBUSD employees, either enrolled in the LBUSD/San Diego State Doctoral Program, or currently working on graduate research for a master's or doctoral program will be considered.

or

  • Program researchers, through an existing partnership with the district, who are collecting data or conducting research on behalf of a study in support of the District's Strategic Plan.

What is considered "research" in LBUSD?

Research in education refers to any methodological or systematic process to increase the body of knowledge to inform practices and policies. It encompasses all investigation, measurement, and evaluation activities, including design, pilots, data collection and analysis, interpretation of results, and conclusions and recommendations. Research may include primary data collection, secondary data usage, or both.

  • For doctoral students at our partner universities (CSULB, SDSU), please complete an application. Research applications may take up to 8 weeks for review, so plan well in advance of the projected start date.
