English Language Arts/Literacy (ELA) & Math Assessments

The ELA and Math assessments created by Long Beach Unified curriculum teams are fixed form and assess subject and grade level specific California Common Core State Standards (CCSS). The purpose of these assessments is to standardize the measurement of student learning across classrooms, allowing for meaningful comparison and analysis of results. These results guide instruction, curriculum, and professional development, aiming to improve student outcomes and ensure equitable access to quality education.

ELA Assessments

At the elementary level (including Dual Immersion programs), ELA assessments are Performance Task based and administered once at the end of the first academic semester. At the secondary level, ELA assessments are administered to align with the end of each academic quarter. Assessments are designed to support every student in our rigorous curriculum designed to advance students through the grades and master the Common Core State Standards.
