LBUSD Pathways
In Long Beach, pathways are designed to create a "school within a school" environment for students through a rigorous academic course of study, real-world learning experiences, caring adults who provide guidance and advising, and social-emotional and learning support to prepare students for college and careers. Most LBUSD Pathways are connected to an industry sector, such as engineering or health industries. At the same time, some pathways are not affiliated with an industry sector. All LBUSD pathways prepare students to meet the entry requirements for California Universities, referred to as A-G requirements, upon high school graduation.
Linked Learning Pathways: These pathways integrate the California Career Technical Education Model Curriculum Standards into the course of study for ten industry sectors in California. These industries are of high interest to students and prepare them for college and career exploration in the area of study. Students experience their pathway industry through the course of study containing academic and CTE courses.
Linked Learning Pathways address a specific career pathway within an industry sector, a variety of career pathways within an industry sector, or similar industry sectors (e.g., the Engineering and Architecture sector and the Health Science and Medical Technology industry sector). Therefore, a pathway may fall under more than one industry sector.
