Welcome to the 2026-2027 School Year!

 

We are incredibly excited to have our students back on campus and ready for the 2026-2027 school year!

At Wilson High School, the energy was booming as students received a warm welcome from cheerleaders, Link Crew, the thunderous school marching band, and the iconic Wilson mascot. Principal Rebecca Caverly, Wilson staff, LBUSD Board members, members of the Senior Team, and Congressman Robert Garcia added to the electric atmosphere.

Wilson was particularly excited to celebrate its 100th anniversary, honoring its rich history and transforming the campus into a once-in-a-century celebration of school pride, tradition, and new beginnings.

“It is a great day to be a part of Long Beach,” Superintendent Zaid beams. “I am thrilled to welcome our students back as a new Superintendent, and would like to show my gratitude to all of our Certificated and Classified staff who make it possible.”

Across the District, other noteworthy celebrations include Lowell Elementary School’s 100th anniversary. Lowell staff, students, parents, and the community celebrated their incredible partnerships and accomplishments as they proudly continue their mission to ensure the personal and intellectual success of all students, highlighting their “Sea Star” pride.

As we begin this 2026-2027 school year, LBUSD continues to be guided by Vision 2035 and our Strategic Plan: Creating a Better Future Together. Our goals focus on advancing student learning, fostering safe and inclusive schools, and strengthening partnerships with families and the community. We remain committed to providing safe and welcoming environments for all, including our immigrant students and families, through our Standing in Solidarity efforts.

To ensure the safety of our students, office personnel and staff who support entry and exit points at schools have been trained, and we have provided helpful resources to every school site. Families can be assured that our schools are safe and our staff is well-prepared.
