Teacher Librarian of the Year

Congratulations to Glenda Culbertson from Hoover Middle School and Tincher K-8 Preparatory School for being named the 2025 Teacher Librarian of the Year by the Long Beach School Librarians Association!

Throughout her career, she has consistently advocated for her fellow librarians in the Long Beach Unified School District, emphasizing the importance of their work and their dedication to all students.

"Librarians support students and teachers by co-planning, co-teaching, and co-assessing student work," Mrs. Culbertson states. "We help them connect with the right books diverse books so that they can see themselves in the stories, develop their own identities, and foster a love of learning."

Mrs. Culbertson's dedication to her students extends beyond the classroom. Through her efforts, she secured the Laura Bush Foundation for America's Libraries grant, which awarded $5,000 to support Hoover, with the proposal to create an escape room for students, novels for their book clubs, and to aid the advancement of the curriculum.

LBUSD expresses its gratitude to Glenda Culbertson for her unwavering service and invaluable contributions to the lives of thousands of students.
