Superintendent Hosts Aspen Institute Network

LBUSD Superintendent Dr. Jill A. Baker

Long Beach Unified School District Superintendent Dr. Jill A. Baker is hosting the Aspen Institute Superintendent Network Retreat from April 17 to 19.

The three-day event will bring together superintendents from large urban school districts to form a small learning community and learn from each other through several interactive sessions scheduled for each day. District leaders from various cities including New York City, Baltimore, Chicago, Indianapolis, Newark, Columbus, Nashville, Washington D.C., Jackson, Oakland and Hartford will be in attendance.

In addition to the visiting superintendents, several LBUSD staff and students will also participate in the event. An expert panel will meet with focus groups of Black LBUSD staff to provide recommendations to further imagine the District's new Center for Black Student Excellence. Additionally, students from Wilson High School's Young Black Scholars club will share their high school experiences with the attending district leaders.

“I am thrilled to welcome my fellow superintendents for this invaluable network retreat,” Superintendent Dr. Jill A. Baker said. “This gathering is an unparalleled opportunity for us to engage deeply with one another, share best practices and collaboratively tackle the challenges faced by urban school districts nationwide. We look forward to incorporating the rich insights gained here to enhance our educational strategies and to further our commitment to excellence in serving our diverse student populations.”
