Superintendent David Zaid Honored by Long Beach City and Education Leaders

Long Beach Unified School District Superintendent David Zaid was honored at a reception sponsored by Long Beach Mayor Rex Richardson and Long Beach City College Superintendent-President Dr. Mike Muñoz on July 16 at The Maya in Long Beach. The reception recognized Zaid’s appointment as superintendent of Long Beach Unified.

The event also recognized Dr. Loren J. Blanchard, who recently began his tenure as president of California State University, Long Beach, celebrating a new chapter of educational leadership across Long Beach.

Earlier in the day, Superintendent Zaid joined education leaders for the annual Long Beach College Promise Summer Retreat, where partners gathered to discuss their shared commitment to supporting student success and strengthening educational opportunities from preschool through college.

“It is an honor to serve the students, families and staff of Long Beach Unified,” Zaid said. “I’m grateful for the warm welcome and look forward to working alongside our education and community partners to help every student succeed.”

The reception highlighted the strong partnership among Long Beach Unified, Long Beach City College, California State University, Long Beach and the City of Long Beach as leaders continue working together to expand opportunities for students throughout the community.
