Students Advocate for Denim Day

Jordan and Wilson high schools stand with representatives of Interval House and the Long Beach Police Department

Several students from Jordan and Wilson high schools along with representatives of Interval House (IH) and the Long Beach Police Department (LBPD) joined forces this year to advocate for official recognition of Denim Day in Long Beach.

Denim Day is an annual sexual assault awareness event that is intended to influence perceptions and change destructive attitudes surrounding sexual assault by encouraging people to wear denim. It is annually celebrated on a Wednesday in April.

The group of students and local representatives attended a recent Long Beach City Council meeting to advocate for the recognition of the campaign in Long Beach.

The City of Long Beach presented the LBPD, IH and the students from Jordan and Wilson high schools with a proclamation in celebration of Denim Day Long Beach on April 26, 2023. This year’s celebration marked the 25th year Denim Day was recognized in Long Beach.
