School Nurse of the Year

The Long Beach Unified School District congratulates Cassian "CJ" Corey-Holder of Newcomb Academy for being named the recipient of the Long Beach School Nurses Association's 2025 School Nurse of the Year Award!

With over 30 years of experience, Nurse CJ is a proud board member of the Long Beach School Nursing Association (LBSNA) and a member of the California School Nurses Organization (CSNO) as well as the National Association of School Nurses (NASN). She consistently goes above and beyond for her students, demonstrating humility and dedication while addressing their social, emotional, and socioeconomic needs. Students, staff, and families admire her professionalism, as well as her compassion for students' health and well-being.

Nurse CJ navigates the complexities of student health with precision, balancing the needs of students, parents, and staff with grace and efficiency. Her ability to maintain a sense of calm creates a reassuring presence on campus, making everyone feel supported and cared for. For all these reasons and more, Nurse CJ truly deserves the title of "School Nurse of the Year."
