School Board Election Early Results

Maria Isabel López and Nubia Flores.

Long Beach Unified School District Board of Education candidates Maria Isabel López and Nubia Flores are vying to fill the District 1 seat to replace two-term board member Megan Kerr, who ran for Long Beach City Council. A full count of the votes is expected in the coming days. As of Nov. 10, López had earned 54.59% of the vote, with Flores at 45.41%

The school board’s five districts are divided by geographic area. Districts 1, 3 and 5 were up for election this year. Districts 3 and 5 were decided in a June primary, when District 3 incumbent Juan Benitez ran unopposed, and District 5 incumbent Diana Craighead prevailed over challenger Melissa Pittscutler.
