Powell K-8 Students Dig Into Sustainability With Rams and EnrichLA

Students at Powell Academy K-8 enjoyed a day full of gardening, fun activities, and hands-on environmental learning as the Los Angeles Rams and EnrichLA visited the campus to promote sustainability.

The event highlighted the Rams' “Football Without Footprint” initiative, encouraging community engagement through school gardening projects across Southern California. Volunteers worked alongside Powell students to plant and prepare garden beds while learning the importance of caring for the environment, their connections to nature, and supporting their healthy living.

Powell’s partnership with the program also gives students the opportunity to learn about S.T.E.A.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) through their gardening experiences, and encourages teamwork.

Through programs like these, Powell K-8 students are offered opportunities aligned with the System Portrait to learn beyond the classroom and discover how they can make a positive difference in their community.
