Long Beach Polytechnic High School, in partnership with the Los Angeles County Office of Education (LACOE), proudly unveiled a new mural honoring legendary alumnus Tony Gwynn on Thursday, November 6. The ceremony celebrated Gwynn’s enduring legacy as both a scholar and a champion, reflecting the excellence and integrity that continue to inspire students today.

The event featured the mural artist and members of the Gwynn family, who joined the Poly community in commemorating the beloved athlete’s impact on athletics, scholarship, and community service.

“Tony Gwynn embodied everything we hope our students aspire to: humility, service to others, and excellence on and off the field,” said Principal Alejando Vega. “This mural will serve as a daily reminder of what it means to be a Jackrabbit.”
