During the summer break, 24 students from Jordan and Cabrillo High Schools participated in the incredible Careers Taking Flight externship program. This weeklong externship, conducted in partnership with the Long Beach Unified School District, was offered by Long Beach Airport and provided a 40-hour immersive experience. Students enjoyed behind-the-scenes tours, career panels, and interactive sessions with airport tenants, aviation companies, federal agencies, and airline partners. Each participant who successfully completed the externship received a $500 incentive. The program also presented students with the opportunity to further their aviation career preparation, as two graduates from previous cohorts are currently serving as interns for the summer at Long Beach Airport.
