Anndrea Araujo-Sandoval from Sato Academy and Sammantha Martinez from Poly High School were recently named the 2025 Swun Scholars for LBUSD. The $10,000 college scholarship awarded includes induction into the Swun Scholarship Program, providing holistic support to college students for career readiness. Congratulations to Anndrea and Sammantha!
The 39th annual Cameo Fashion Show fundraiser was attended by 400 guests at The Westin Long Beach. More than $100,000 was raised to support Cameo’s mentoring program for promising, underserved Long Beach Unified School District high school students and the re-entry women of Long Beach City College.
Mayor Rex Richardson declared March 1 to be 'Coach Don Norford Day' in the City of Long Beach after Long Beach Poly High School renamed its track after legendary coach Don Norford in an incredible celebration. Hundreds of community members and student-athletes attended the event to watch Don Norford receive the tribute of a lifetime when the track was renamed in his honor.
