Long Beach middle and high school students showcased their talent at the fourth annual Battle of the Bands, where Bloody America (from Renaissance and Millikan) took first place as an audience favorite. The event is annually hosted by Renaissance High School for the Arts and features a diverse lineup of student musicians, serving as a fundraiser to support arts education opportunities. Schools across the district proudly participated in the 41st annual Norman Gottlieb Student Art Exhibition at the Alpert Jewish Community Center. This special event showcased outstanding artwork created by our talented LBUSD middle and high school student artists.

Participating middle schools included: Bancroft, Franklin, Hoover, Hughes, Marshall, Nelson, Rogers, Stanford, and Stephens. Participating high schools included: Cabrillo, Jordan, Lakewood, McBride, Millikan, Poly, Renaissance, and Wilson.

Our Middle School Winners: Grace Jorgenson (Hughes), Aina Khom (Hoover), and Mia Enjem (Stanford). 

Our High School Winners:  Valerie Winkler (Wilson), Charlie Warner (Millikan), and Isabel Quintanar (Renaissance).

Congratulations to all of our talented student artists for their creativity and dedication!

Valerie Vinnard has been named as a General Music Representative for the California Music Educators Association Southwestern Section Board! The section hosted a Multi-Music Festival at Pierce College featuring seven LBUSD schools, where Vinnard served as Master of Ceremonies and certificate presenter. Congratulations!
