Jack Brown from Millikan High was named Press-Telegram Boy's Athlete of the Week. Brown played a key role in securing the Ram's back-to-back Moore League meet titles.

Long Beach Unified School District student alumna Billie Jean King was named grand marshal for the 136th Rose Parade on New Year's Day. King, known for her incredible tennis achievements and advocacy for gender equality in sports, will lead the parade as a symbol of inspiration and highlighting her legacy.

At the most recent annual Civics Day in Long Beach Unified, students successfully collaborated to have trash cans installed at their local beach after contacting the Long Beach Public Works Department. Read more here. 

The Millikan Boys' Football team volunteered at the Long Beach Rescue Mission over Thanksgiving break, helping to serve meals and making a difference in the Long Beach community. 

Valerie Vinnard, a music education teacher at Birney, Chavez, Los Cerritos, Mckinley and Webster Elementary Schools, was recently featured in an article in the Delta Kappa Gamma Society International Collegial Exchange Magazine titled "Exchange Field Trips." The article discusses community engagement and partnerships between Birney and Long Beach Community College.
