Sophomore Arthur Emanuel Martins de Alcantara of Lakewood High School was recently named the second-place winner of the annual Congressional Art Competition for the 42nd District represented by Congressman Robert Garcia. The Lakewood student’s winning artwork will be on display at Long Beach City Hall through next year. The award is one of many recent accolades earned by the talented student. Earlier this year, Martins de Alcantara was the first-place winner of the Norman Gottlieb Youth Art Show. His work also was used as digital advertising material by the Long Beach Museum of Art to promote a recent exhibit.
