book mark contest winner

Camila Armenta, Signal Hill Winner

LBUSD students across all grade levels, from TK through 12th grade, were invited to take part in the Green Week bookmark contest inspired by the 2026 Earth Day theme, "Our Power, Our Planet." More than a thousand students from schools throughout the District submitted their artwork, showcasing their talent and enthusiasm. Teacher librarians and library media assistants at each school helped coordinate the contest and encouraged students to participate. The judging panel included staff from Library Services, Textbook Services, VAPA, Facilities, and Duplicating, along with the contest sponsor, the Port of Long Beach. On April 22, in celebration of Earth Day, one winner from each grade level was recognized. Each student received a framed certificate, a trophy, 50 copies of their winning bookmark, and a $100 Target gift card as a token of appreciation for their creativity. To help celebrate our students' achievements, every school library in the District received 20 copies of each of the 14 winning bookmarks to share with their school community.
