Axel Aguilar, Long Beach Unified School District student board member and senior at Jordan High School, recently won the California-HOSA (Future Health Professionals) State Leadership Conference. Aguilar surpassed an impressive 4,000 students in the nursing skills category to successfully qualify for the international competition, scheduled to take place this June in Dallas, Texas. Aguilar is a student of Jordan’s Aspirations in Medical Sciences (AIMS) Pathway and currently serves as the AIMS club president.
Olivia Jensen, a student of Cubberley K-8 School, won the first-place award in photography for LBUSD and Cubberley at the 2024 Reflections Awards organized by the Thirty-Third District PTA.
Jensen’s work also earned third place in photography for the Thirty-Third District PTA. The competition received over 2,000 art entries across various categories, including Photography, Dance, Film, Music, Painting and Drawing, from the 20 council districts in Los Angeles County representing the Thirty-Third District PTA.
