Los Cerritos Elementary Celebrates 100 Years of Excellence, Legacy, and Love
On Apr. 25, Los Cerritos Elementary School marked a historic milestone—100 years of educating generations of Long Beach’s brightest minds. From its proud tradition of academic excellence and community pride, Los Cerritos has stood as a beacon of love, learning, and legacy for an entire century.
The centennial celebration was nothing short of extraordinary. Alumni from across decades returned to walk the halls once again, students performed heartfelt tributes, and families came together to honor the past while looking boldly toward the future. The event included historical displays, musical performances, student-led tours, and emotional reflections from community leaders and educators whose lives have been forever shaped by the magic of Los Cerritos.
“For 100 years, Los Cerritos Elementary has been a crown jewel in our school district—where joy and achievement live side by side, and where every child is seen, known and loved,” said Superintendent Dr. Jill Baker. “It is not just a school; it’s a sanctuary of belonging, a place where families grow, and dreams begin.”
Los Cerritos Principal Liseeth Ramos also spoke with pride about the school’s lasting impact: “This school is a living legacy. We are standing on the shoulders of giants—of educators, parents, and students who have poured their hearts into making Los Cerritos what it is today. It’s been an honor to lead such a remarkable place and to celebrate this once-in-a-lifetime moment with our community.”
From the handprints of kindergarteners to the heartfelt hugs of alumni, the centennial celebration was a powerful reminder that while times may change, Los Cerritos’ commitment to educating the whole child remains timeless. Here's the next 100 years of brilliance, belonging and boundless possibilities.
