The pipeline from Long Beach Polytechnic High School to the NFL just keeps reloading. At Super Bowl LX on February 9 in Santa Clara, Ca., Poly alum Alex Austin, class of 2019, will take the field on football’s biggest stage, becoming the latest Jackrabbit to extend one of the most remarkable high school-to-pro legacies in sports history. With Austin’s appearance, Poly athletes have now played in 15 of the 60 Super Bowls, an astonishing 25-percent of all Super Bowls tied to one public high school.

Austin’s journey reflects the grit and resilience that define Poly. A standout in high school, he navigated the challenges of the NFL before earning a key role in the secondary for the New England Patriots, helping propel the team to Super Bowl 60. Carrying not just a jersey but a community with him, Austin represents generations of Poly excellence, proof that hunger, talent, and opportunity can take Long Beach students all the way to the world’s brightest lights.
