LBUSD’s Rebrand Recognized Statewide for Excellence in Visual Identity

Long Beach Unified has pioneered embracing change, seamlessly blending innovation and honoring its legacy with a remarkable rebrand. Recognizing this effort, the California School Public Relations Association (CalSPRA) has awarded LBUSD for its dedication and excellence in branding.

Earlier in March, CalSPRA held its Annual Conference and Awards Banquet in San Diego, where it presented its Excellence in Communications Awards for districts and professionals that achieved superior strategic communications and public relations initiatives.

With over 400 public education PR professionals in attendance, LBUSD proudly received its award for Logo and Visual Identity Package: Comprehensive District Rebrand, Branding & Image Package. As a statewide organization that promotes effective communication and community engagement in public education, this distinction highlights Long Beach Unified’s commitment to improvement and excellence for its district students, families and staff.

LBUSD has been widely praised for its rebrand and thoughtfully capturing the district’s values, diversity, and commitment to progress. As the new logo contains a sunrise over the ocean, the six colors symbolize its community's rich diversity and inclusivity efforts, while remaining a metaphor for new beginnings and as an ode to its coastal location. The updated branding additionally creates a vibrant and inspiring feel, as it aligns with LBUSD's new strategic plan and Vision 2035.
