LBUSD Awarded $5.3M to Expand Career Technical Education Opportunities

Long Beach Unified School District has been awarded a preliminary allocation of $5.3 million through the California Department of Education’s 2026–27 Career Technical Education Incentive Grant (CTEIG) Program.

This year’s allocation reflects additional one-time state funding and is higher than the District’s typical annual CTEIG allocation.

The funding will support LBUSD’s continued work to provide students with high-quality Career Technical Education opportunities that connect classroom learning with real-world skills, experiences, and pathways to future careers.

“This investment is ultimately an investment in our students and their futures,” Superintendent David Zaid said. “When we give young people opportunities to discover their strengths, develop real-world skills, and see what is possible beyond graduation, we help open doors that can change the trajectory of their lives. I’m incredibly proud of the work of our team and grateful for this continued investment in our students.”

The CTEIG program supports high-quality career technical education programs throughout California, helping students develop the knowledge and skills needed for college and career success.
