LA Kings Surprise Hudson Elementary Students with New Bikes
Students at Hudson Elementary were in for an exciting surprise when local hockey team, the Los Angeles Kings, gifted them brand-new bicycles through the Bikes for Kids Foundation.
On February 11, 85 second and third-grade students were ecstatic to receive their gifts during a special assembly hosted by LA Kings Ice Crew and their team mascot, Bailey. As part of a collaboration with the Bikes For Kids Foundation for their G.O.A.L's program, students were able to submit essays on their aspirations, hard work, perseverance and kindness for the chance to win a bike. To their amazement, all students at the assembly were awarded a bicycle.
In addition to the bike giveaway, students enjoyed a ball hockey activation sponsored by the LA Kings Hockey Development Team, promoting their physical and mental well-being.
Gabe Gilbard, Manager of Community Relations for the LA Kings, emphasized the program's significance, stating, "we're not just promoting a healthy, active lifestyle with the bike donation; we're also empowering these kids to dream big and believe in their potential."
Thomas Espinoza, Principal of Hudson Elementary, expressed gratitude, saying, "on behalf of the second and third-grade students and their teachers at Hudson, thank you for referring us to the Bikes for Kids Foundation. The foundation and the LA Kings staff did a fantastic job. It was an amazing event and our kids will have a great memory of Hudson!"
