Class of 2026: Full-Ride Scholarship Recipients

The Long Beach Unified School District is proud to celebrate the following students, who have distinguished themselves by earning full-ride scholarships to prestigious universities:

Avalon

  • Andres Silva from Avalon High School will be studying Business Administration at San Diego State University, and earned the Hallenbeck Foundation Scholarship of $40k.

Browning

  • Kylee Morris from Browning High School received a full scholarship to Howard University and will study Marketing and Management. 
  • Nyechelle Shaw from Browning High School received a full scholarship to the Institute of Culinary Education to study Restaurant Management. 

Cabrillo

  • Flor Gariba from Cabrillo High School will study Communications at the University of Southern California, where she earned a full-ride scholarship.

California Academy of Math and Science

  • Christopher Ramirez from the California Academy of Math and Science will be attending Harvard University. He has received over $100,000 in scholarships and plans to major in Molecular and Cellular Biology.
  • Jaiden Nwa-buzor from the California Academy of Math and Science will attend Yale University and major in Computer Science as a QuestBridge Scholar. Jaiden was also the recipient of the Coca-Cola and Amazon Future Engineer scholarships. (has been awarded nearly half a million dollars in scholarships.)
  • Miguel Reyes from the California Academy of Math and Science will be attending San Francisco State University as a Presidential Scholar. He plans to major in Biology with a concentration in Cell and Molecular Biology.

Jordan

  • Valerie Brooks from Jordan High School will study Nursing at Howard University, where she was awarded a $40k annual scholarship.

Lakewood

  • Allison Honeycutt from Lakewood High School will major in Biology and Pre-Medicine at Lindenwood University, where she received an $18K Rugby and First-Year Merit Scholarship.

McBride

  • Ezekiel Correa from McBride High School will major in Political Science at Columbia University, where he was awarded a full-ride scholarship.

Millikan

  • Patrick Chhay from Millikan High School will be attending Princeton University to study Neuroscience. As a grand gesture to invest in his future, financial aid is covering the full cost of his tuition.
  • Olivia Garcia from Millikan High School will be attending the University of California, Los Angeles. She is the inaugural winner of the Sawrey Memorial Academic Scholarship and is pursuing a medical career in oncology. 
  • Olivia Zamora from Millikan High School received the Posse Scholarship, a prestigious 4-year, full-tuition leadership award, and will attend Santa Clara University.
  • Sebastian Sachs from Millikan High School received the Presidential Scholarship at Loyola Marymount University, a $120,000 award recognizing exceptional academic merit. He will be enrolled in the Honors Program and participate in a paid summer research program. 
  • Daunte Bell II from Millikan High School will study Communications at the University of Houston, where he was awarded a full-ride baseball scholarship.
  • Madison Caceres from Millikan High School will attend the University of California, Berkeley, has received the Chancellor's and Regents Scholarships, and is studying nutrition and metabolic biology. She is also a National ROTC Scholarship winner and will be part of the Berkeley-exclusive Golden Bear Battalion. Lastly, she was named one of the top 7 most inspiring HS student-athletes in LA County.

Poly

  • Sophia Marie Villa-Quintero from Long Beach Poly High School will study Human Biology at the University of California, Berkeley, and has been awarded the Loren R. Hilf Foundation Scholarship for $10K.
  • Lolua Tauan'u from Long Beach Poly High School will be attending Harvard University on a full-ride scholarship. 

Renaissance

  • Samantha Elder from Renaissance High School for the Arts will be attending OTIS College of Art & Design on a full-ride scholarship

Sato

  • Kaleb Neal from Sato Academy will study Electrical & Computer Engineering at Worcester Polytechnic Institute, and was awarded a $50K Edison Scholarship.

Wilson

  • Isaac Bastida-Lopez from Wilson High School will be attending Stanford University on a full-ride scholarship.
  • Madison Butler from Wilson High School will study Business Administration at California Polytechnic University, Pomona, and has earned a $1K Shotwell Scholarship.
