City of Long Beach Announces Poly Student as “Jellyfish” Contest Winner
Long Beach Poly’s Jazlyn Dizon was recently named as the winner of the City of Long Beach Department of Parks, Recreation, and Marine’s (PRM) “Jellyfish” contest.
The City of Long Beach organized a youth art competition to introduce its innovative “Jellyfish” bot, an advanced remotely controlled device specifically engineered to collect debris from waterways and is capable of removing up to 100 pounds of debris in a single mission. To celebrate the talented artwork of the contestants, the top three finalists were invited to a public awards ceremony hosted by the PRM and the Aquarium of the Pacific.
Out of the 60 outstanding entries, community members gathered to witness Dizon be announced as the first-place winner. Serving as inspiration for her community, Dizon showcased her creativity while addressing the critical cause of raising awareness of environmental conservation. As recognition for her exceptional artwork, Dizon was awarded a $1,500 scholarship, sponsored by Intex Recreation Corporation and Long Beach Container Terminal and had her winning design adorned on the Jellyfishbot.
Congratulations to Jazlyn Dizon on this well-deserved achievement!
