Ellis Resigns, Election Set for Dec. 29

Voters on Dec. 29 will pick a replacement for former school board member Michael Ellis, whose District 3 seat was declared vacant Tuesday by the Board of Education.

Ellis announced his resignation last month. His four-year term was set to expire next July. The Long Beach City Charter requires a special election to fill the seat. The winner will serve for the remainder of Ellis’ unexpired term.
