A Powerful Return for Long Beach’s Career & College Expo

Nearly 1,500 Long Beach students explored their futures at the Long Beach College & Career Expo, marking the event’s exciting return since the pandemic — and one of the city’s largest career events in more than five years.

Hosted in collaboration by the City of Long Beach, Long Beach Unified School District, Long Beach College Promise, STREAM Global, and other community partners, the Expo brought together over 75 colleges and universities and dozens of local employers from thriving industries including healthcare, hospitality, public service, and aerospace.

From virtual reality demonstrations to hands-on pull-up challenges, exhibitors kept students engaged and inspired as they explored potential career paths. Representatives from USC, CSU Long Beach, Long Beach City College, the Port of Long Beach, Vast, and multiple military branches offered students a firsthand look at academic programs and professional opportunities.

“It opened my eyes to seeing what different types of colleges offer,” said Jonathan, a senior at Poly High School. “I’m excited to see medical opportunities, to see if I can get into the medical field.”

“This is an investment into the future,” said Long Beach Mayor Rex Richardson. "When I was a kid, folks might have said, ‘I want to be an astronaut’ or ‘I want to be president of the United States.’ Well, today the pathways are there for you to achieve those dreams right here in the city of Long Beach… What this [event] really demonstrates is the heart for the city of Long Beach and the collaborative spirit we have here.”

Thank you to all our participating universities and companies for offering a unique chance to connect with Long Beach’s students and families, and for helping to shape the city’s next generation of innovators, creators, and professionals. 

Organizers are already looking ahead to next year’s event, anticipating even greater turnout and participation from educational and industry partners eager to make an impact.
