On Wednesday, February 4, the District marked an important milestone with the topping-out ceremony for the new Polytechnic High School Career and Technical Education (CTE) Building, celebrating both progress toward the future and the closing of a meaningful chapter in District leadership.

The three-story, state-of-the-art facility will soon be home to innovative, hands-on programs, including the MEDS program, Auto Shop, and Robotics. Designed to support real-world, career-connected learning, the building will provide students with the skills and experiences needed to succeed in college, careers, and beyond. In addition to these specialized programs, the facility will include general education classrooms, special education classrooms, and modern computer labs, creating a dynamic, inclusive learning environment that serves a wide range of student needs.

The ceremony added significance as it marked the final District construction milestone for Superintendent Jill A. Baker, who is retiring after 34 years of dedicated service. “We are grateful to our voters for believing in Poly High School and investing in our students,” she said. “This new CTE building reflects our shared commitment to creating learning spaces that prepare students for college, careers and lifelong success, while strengthening the Poly community for generations to come.” As the final beam was placed, it symbolized not only the progress of this transformative project, but also the lasting impact of leadership rooted in innovation, equity, and a deep commitment to student success.

This milestone represents a major step forward in the broader transformation of the Polytechnic High School campus. As construction continues, future phases will introduce additional cutting-edge academic facilities designed to foster collaboration, creativity, and academic growth. Campus-wide Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) installation will significantly improve indoor comfort and learning conditions, while new outdoor learning spaces will create opportunities for connection and engagement. The transformation also includes upgraded athletic facilities that will support Poly’s champion sports teams and provide high-quality amenities for student-athletes.

Together, these improvements reflect a comprehensive and forward-looking vision for the future of Polytechnic High School made possible through the support of Bond Measures E and Q. The District extends its sincere gratitude to the voters for their continued investment in students, schools, and the community.
