Pre-candidates

Pre-candidates Phase I Obligations

In order to be eligible for district support for the NBPTS, each pre-candidate will be required to complete the following:

• Program application (complete with three letters of recommendation)
• Participation in 18 hours of in-person Pre-Candidacy professional development.
• Completion of all assignments related to Pre-Candidacy program

• Proof of Permanent Contract (verified by OCIPD through Payroll/Personnel System)

Pre-candidates Phase II Obligations

After completion of the pre-candidate professional development, pre-candidates will submit Component two applications to the LBUSD Oversight Committee for National Board Certification. This committee will make the final decision about the advancement of pre-candidates to the LBUSD sponsored National Board candidacy.

Pre-candidates Program Information and Application (2025-2026)

Applications are due 4:00pm on September 19, 2025

Directions for NB Pre-Candidate Application Submission:

• Upload a PDF of both the application and essay using this Google Form
• Share this link with the three people that will be providing a letter of recommendation.  At least one letter should be from a current administrator and/or someone who is responsible for evaluating your teaching performance.
