Classified Technical Skills Studio
The Classified Technical Skill Studio offers voluntary, single-session professional development workshops designed to enhance classified employees’ proficiency in various computing programs.
Introduction to Leadership Program
The Introduction to Leadership Program provides classified staff with voluntary professional development opportunities aimed at cultivating leadership skills. This program includes three in-person workshops and two asynchronous sessions. Participants will explore their leadership styles, develop skills to foster an equity-based culture, and reflect on values and traits that enhance leadership credibility. The program emphasizes the use of technology for effective organization and management, encouraging collaborative efforts to showcase exceptional leadership. This program supports leadership development through professional growth and self-reflection, but does not serve as a formal application for a leadership position.
Foundations of Classified Leadership Program
The Foundations of Classified Leadership Program offers voluntary professional development to classified staff dedicated to inclusivity within the Long Beach Unified community. The program features in-person workshops where participants learn about goal setting, communication, trust-building, conflict resolution, and customer service excellence. These workshops provide coaching and leadership skills for participants, but are not formal applications for leadership positions.
Classified Leaders Program
The Classified Leaders Program offers voluntary professional development for classified staff committed to fostering an inclusive Long Beach community. The program includes in-person workshops and digital resources to support leadership growth. Participants will create plans to enhance team collective efficacy, utilize feedback and crucial conversations for growth, and engage in Restorative Justice professional development to promote an equitable learning environment. These workshops focus on professional growth and leadership development, but are not formal applications for leadership roles or positions.
Advanced Classified Leaders Program
The Advanced Classified Leaders Program offers voluntary professional development for classified staff who have completed the Classified Leaders Program. This program includes in-person workshops focused on developing effective communication systems with stakeholders, building team capacity, and implementing strategies for conflict resolution and team celebration. These workshops aim to enhance coaching and leadership skills, but are not formal applications for leadership roles or positions.
Classified Credential Program
The Classified Credential Program provides selected classified applicants with the opportunity to pursue a teaching credential at California State University Long Beach or California State University Dominguez Hills. This state-funded career ladder program supports classified employees in advancing their careers in education.
Classified Coaches Program
The Classified Coaches Program offers voluntary professional development on coaching strategies for office and plant supervisors. These workshops are designed to equip coaches with the skills needed to support classified managers who are new to their roles, enhancing their leadership capabilities.
Custodial Services Course
The Custodial Services Course at Long Beach School for Adults provides professional development for students aiming to become highly effective custodians. Participants engage in Restorative Community Circles and other activities to build a sense of community. The course also offers tips, advice, and information to prepare for job interviews with the Long Beach Unified School District.
New Managers Onboarding
The New Managers Onboarding program offers professional development for newly promoted classified managers, supporting their transition into management roles. The program focuses on leadership competencies and performance standards essential for successful management within the district
