District English Learner Advisory Committee (DELAC)
What is DELAC ?
Each California public school district, grades Kindergarten through 12, with 51 or more English learners must form a District-level English Learner Advisory Committee (DELAC). The District English Learner Advisory Committee (DELAC) is a fantastic way for parents to become involved in their child’s education at a district level. Each month, DELAC Representatives, parents, district leaders, and community members attend DELAC meetings at Martin Luther King, Jr. Park in Long Beach.
Parents of English Learners participate in meetings about English Learner (EL) services which include establishing district programs, goals and objectives for EL programs and services, reclassification process, and how EL funds are used to implement academic services for English Learners.
