Online Application process
Getting started: *(We are no longer accepting paper applications). All documentation will need to be uploaded to the online application. (See link to the left) Ensure all *required documentation is ready to upload before starting the
application. (Application does not save and must be completed and submitted in one sitting.)
*Required Documentation:
Current TB test (within last 60 days) AND valid CA DL with clear photo
If uploaded Government Issued ID (CA DL) and home address on the VIPS application do not match, please provide any of the following to verify your address: Voter's
Registration, paystub (last 30 days), utility bill (no cellular, cable or bank statement)

Welcome to Volunteers in Public Schools (VIPS)
How to Apply Online
1. Get the Application Link
- Contact your school site VIPS Coordinator OR
- Visit the LBUSD website - VIPS section (Online Application also linked at the top of this page)
2. Prepare Your Documents (before starting - application must be finished in one sitting)
- Current TB Test or Adult TB Risk Assessment (within last 60 days)
- Valid Government-Issued Photo Identification (California Driver's License, California Identification, Passport, Military Identification, etc.)
- Identification name & address must match your application
- If addresses differ, upload proof (recent paystub, voter registration, or utility bill - no cell/cable/bank statements)
- Preschool Volunteers Only: Proof of measles, pertussis, and influenza immunizations (SB 792; flu may be waived annually)
- Fingerprinting: Required only for VIPS coaches, Interns & Special Programs
3. Submit Online Application
4. Processing (Allow at least 2 weeks)
- Background checks (Department Of Justice/Federal Bureau of Investigation when needed) & Megan's Law clearance
5. Approval & Badge
- School site VIPS Coordinator will notify you & issue your VIPS badge

Do I need to reapply?
Yes, if you are:
- A first-time VIPS in LBUSD
- Your TB test has expired (valid for 4 years)
- Volunteering at more than one school site after Jan. 2025
How long does it take?
At least 2 weeks, depending on background clearance.
How will I know I'm approved?
Your school site VIPS Coordinator will notify you once your application is approved.
What are volunteer expectations?

Sign in & wear badge or name tag provided by site whenever on campus and attending school events (i.e. field trips)
- Follow school/district policies
- Maintain confidentiality
