Tentative Agreement Reached on School Opening

Bargaining teams for the Long Beach Unified School District and the Teachers Association of Long Beach reached a tentative agreement this evening on the Opening of Schools Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).

Pending formal approval by TALB’s Executive Board, the tentative agreement includes the option for members of the bargaining unit to work from an alternate work location. Bargaining unit members who choose an alternate work location would be required to sign and submit an alternate workplace agreement. 

The MOU also addresses safety, instructional models, use of teacher images, professional development, parent communication and other topics. The bargaining teams also agreed to schedule minimum days for the first two weeks of school, to provide teachers additional time to prepare lessons and become familiar with the Canvas learning management system.

The full MOU will be shared in the coming days pending final approval by TALB’s Executive Board.
