Dear LBUSD Colleagues,
Bargaining teams for the Long Beach Unified School District and the Teachers Association of Long Beach met today to continue negotiations for the 2019-20 and 2020-21 school years. During negotiations, the school district offered a salary increase based on its reasonable assessment of the district budget. The bargaining teams were unable to reach an agreement today but plan to resume negotiations on Thursday.
We recognize that many of our employees who are not represented by TALB have worked in-person throughout the pandemic, feeding our students, keeping our facilities clean, and managing day-to-day operations. Our school district has a well established history of parity in terms of salary increases across employee groups, and we will strive to uphold that tradition as we move forward, including as we negotiate with CSEA in the coming weeks.
To our teachers and to all of our employees, please know that our district leadership stands ready to support your best efforts as we emerge from this terrible pandemic. We will keep you apprised.
With deep appreciation,
Jill
