Centering Health and Well-Being-Uplifting the Community-Encouraging Authenticity

Cultural Identity & Emotional Wellness

  • Design and implement initiatives that promote Black student identity development, self-awareness, and mental health
  • Facilitate healing-centered, culturally relevant programming that addresses racial stress, historical trauma, and systemic barriers

Student Programs & Engagement

  • Support the development of student affinity groups and peer-led wellness initiatives
  • Establish safe, affirming spaces at the Center for students to build community and access wellness resources

Professional Development & Capacity Building

  • Provide training and coaching for educators, counselors, and support staff on culturally responsive mental health practices
  • Offer workshops on trauma-informed care, restorative practices, and wellness strategies tailored for Black students

Family and Community Partnerships

  • Build partnerships with culturally aligned mental health professionals, community organizations, and wellness practitioners
  • Design family engagement opportunities that center emotional wellness, self-care, and culturally affirming parenting practices
  • Organize events that support intergenerational healing and community wellness

Serving as Administrator of Social Emotional Wellness, Dr. Belvin will lead the development and implementation of culturally responsive practices that affirm Black students’ identities and foster emotional well-being.
