Embracing Black Identity-Promoting Advocacy and Awareness-Elevating Intergenerational Wisdom

STEAM Programming

  • Partner with local organizations, universities, and industry professionals to deliver mentorship, hands-on workshops, and exposure to STEAM careers and innovation.
  • Coordinate and host STEAM-focused events, clubs, competitions, and programs at the Center of Black Student Excellence.
  • Track student participation and outcomes to assess impact and continuously improve STEAM programming based on data-driven insights.

Leadership Development

  • Develop leadership programming centered on Afrocentric values, identity affirmation, and a commitment to community service.
  • Mentor and coach student leaders to lead peer-driven initiatives, facilitate school site meetings, and engage in civic and community-based activities.
  • Partner with schools to identify students with high leadership potential and provide targeted support to nurture their growth and impact.

Middle to High School Pathways

  • Develop programming that promotes a smooth and supported transition from middle to high school for Black students through culturally affirming pathways.
  • Coordinate exploration events, campus visits, and mentorship opportunities that connect middle school students with high school and college role models.
  • Provide families with accessible resources and guidance on high school options, academic programs, and expectations to support informed decision-making.

As the Teacher on Special Assignment (TOSA), Mr. Brown will lead, design, and implement culturally responsive programming that promotes STEAM exploration, leadership development, and readiness for middle-to-high school pathways among Black students. His role is vital in advancing the Center’s mission to affirm identity, uplift achievement, and build intergenerational community connections.
