Candidate Obligation
- Participation in the district-sponsored Candidate Preparation Program
- Completion of the portfolio entries required by the National Board
- Completion of the Assessment Center Exercises as required by the National Board
- Agreement to remain in the district for a period of two-years following completion of the National Board Process.

LBUSD NB Candidate Reimbursement Information
For participants who are advanced to the District Candidacy Program for National Board Certification, the District shall provide compensation for all initial assessment fee expenses and one retake in a section.
If a reimbursement is needed, NB Candidates must email a scanned copy of the following documents to April Gutierrez, Teacher Development Staff Secretary, AGarcia6@lbschools.net and cc: Ryan Ung, NB Coordinator, Ryanung@lbschools.net :

Proof of Payment - National Board Payment History which includes identification & proof of candidate’s payment in one document

LBUSD is proud to support all certificated teachers, librarians, and counselors in their pursuit of and participation in the process of attaining their National Board Certification. To this end, LBUSD NB Support Providers will be offering differentiated, individualized support sessions.

CA NBPTS Candidate Subsidy Program Information
Overview of the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS) Candidate Subsidy Program for teachers working in high-priority schools to apply for the candidate subsidy to cover up to $2,500 for the cost of certification.
2023–24 Subsidy Application
The 2023–24 NBPTS Candidate Subsidy Application (Link) is now open. This application is for new and continuing teachers in the process of pursuing a certification from NBPTS when teaching at a school on the Eligible High-Priority Schools List after July 1, 2023. This application will close January 10, 2024, at 4 p.m.
