Dr. Juan M. Benitez represents District 3 on the Long Beach Unified School District Board of Education. A proud LBUSD parent and lifelong public school advocate, he brings over 25 years of experience as an educator and professor at California State University, Long Beach. Dr. Benitez directs CSULB’s Center for Community Engagement, where he leads regional initiatives focused on equity, civic engagement, and student success. A son of Mexican immigrants, he earned his Bachelor's, Masters, and Doctorate from UCLA. Widely respected for uniting families, educators, and stakeholders, he is dedicated to establishing a school system built on inclusion and access.

Public schools are a shared responsibility in our community. My focus has always been to help deliver on that responsibility through active listening, continued learning, and collaborative leadership.
