Maria Isabel López is a career educator and proud graduate of Long Beach Unified, with over 20 years of experience supporting students, teachers, and families. A product of Long Beach Polytechnic High School, she holds degrees from UCLA and Harvard. Her career encompasses teaching, consulting, and curriculum development for English learners and gifted students. A champion for equity, she advocates for inclusive, high-achieving learning environments. As a board member and former LBUSD parent, she draws from personal and professional experience to uplift all students. López lives in Bixby Knolls with her husband, their three daughters, and two dogs—Snickers, a terrier mix, and Lucas "Pelucas," a golden retriever. She remains deeply committed to LBUSD’s future.

I want every student to know they belong in classrooms where they are challenged, encouraged, and inspired. That is the kind of education I continue to advocate for and champion.
