Long Beach school nurses recently assisted Lydia House, a women and children’s shelter that is part of the Long Beach Rescue Mission, by volunteering and collecting donated goods. Each year the nurses combine their holiday party with an opportunity to help a community-based organization.
Nurses and health assistants collected items including gift cards, diapers, baby wipes and other toiletries.
“Lydia House provides shelter, solace and hope for homeless women and their children,” said Rose Van Meeveren, a nurse at Cleveland, Gompers and Henry schools. “It is important for the nurses to help and be involved in our Long Beach community.”
