Special Education Mission

The mission of the Special Education Curriculum Office is to work inclusively with all content areas to support and represent students of all abilities. Recognizing that students require individualized pathways to desired college, career, and post high school outcomes, the curriculum office works to differentiate, scaffold, and adapt grade level California Standards-based curriculum to the unique needs of students of all abilities. The Special Education Curriculum Office provides resources, curriculum support, and professional learning experiences for teachers of students with disabilities to strategically support students in developing skills toward independence in understanding and solving problems, communicating and collaborating, ethical decision making, self-management/advocacy, & being an adaptable and productive citizen. The Special Education Curriculum Office looks closely at encouraging and motivating students in developing knowledge and skills while promoting advocacy, choice, and ownership in outcomes.
