Allowing students to participate in the pursuit and application of science in the classroom helps strengthen their understanding of their world. Science generates discussion and prompts students to focus their natural curiosity to generate solutions to everyday problems. Science helps to amplify students' unique voices and highlights how their individual cultures, backgrounds and communities help them in making sense of the world. Sharing those ideas helps them both better understand themselves and each other. We firmly believe that Scientific Education is a vehicle for developing and strengthening reasoning, math, literacy, writing and verbal communication skills. The Science Curriculum Office purpose is to aid teachers, administrators, parents and support personnel in tapping into the natural curiosity all students have to understand their world and how it works. Our office provides researched-based professional development aimed at increasing the effectiveness of science instruction, curricular materials, and other instructional resources so that our students are empowered as independent critical thinkers and problem solvers.
