Health Education Mission Statement

Our mission is to develop health literacy in all students. Health literacy is the capacity of an individual to obtain, interpret, and understand basic health information and services and the competence to use such information and services in ways that are health-enhancing. Health-literate individuals understand scientifically based principles of health promotion and disease prevention, incorporate that knowledge into personal health-related attitudes and behaviors, and make good health a personal priority.

Health Education Vision Statement

We believe the health of students and their success in school are intimately linked. Students must be healthy to be able to learn and students must be educated to keep themselves healthy. Healthy students generally make healthy choices, are more able to realize their potential, avoid risky behaviors, and cope effectively in stressful environments.
