Colin Powell Academy for Success

Reporting Absence Procedure

Effective May 3, 2005, Colin Powell Academy for Success will have the following procedure for reporting student absences.

Parents or guardians should call the 24-hour Attendance Hotline at (310) 631-8987, to report a student absence.

Please provide the following information:
  • Date of absence;
  • student's first and last names (please spell the last name);
  • your relationship to the student.
Students will no longer need a re-admit to return to class.  If you provide a note for your child, please have him or her deposit that note in the Attendance Office Drop Box located outside the Main Office.  It should contain the information listed above as well.

Parents' Responsibilities

  • Call the Attendance Hotline the day when your child is absent.
  • Follow-up with your child's teachers if he or she has brought home make-up assignments to complete.
  • Check you child's agenda (daily planner) to make sure your child has a study buddy to answer questions by phone if he or she does not understand an assignment.

Students' Responsibilities

  • Remind your parents to call Colin Powell Academy the day you are absent.
  • When you return to school after an absence, pick up any missed assignments from your teacher(s).
