Hello Millikan Community,

This promises to be a quick note.  Today we are hosting Principals for a Day.  The folks who have selected Millikan are as follows.

Congratulations to our Girls Volleyball team on a very successful season.  Under the leadership of Matt Ryan, our young ladies made it to the first round of CIF.  Way to go Rams!

Tonight will be the first round of CIF playoffs for our Boys’ Water polo team.  We are facing Loyola in the pool at Mira Costa High School; the game starts at 5:00 P.M.  The address is 1401 Artesia Blvd., Manhattan Beach.

Tonight our Varsity Football Team will meet Wilson High School in our stadium at 7:00 P.M.  The game is for a spot in CIF.  The winner gets to go and the loser stays home.  Also, in last weeks game against Cabrillo, two Cabrillo players were taken off the field due to injuries.  I am glad to report that both of those young men are fine according to the Cabrillo Administration.

I have attached a copy of the Boys Basketball schedule for this season.  Please try and come out and support our team.

Remember that this year every Senior must complete 40 hours of Service Learning in order to graduate.  Please encourage your Senior to turn in his or her hours to Mr. Harper.  We are running out of time!

Over the last few months, Millikan staff has collected many non- Millikan color sweaters, sweatshirts and jackets from our students.  Please direct your students to the front office to pick up those items of clothing within the next week.  Millikan will eventually donate the clothing items to the homeless during the Winter Break.

Finally, I would like to invite all of you to an upcoming School Facilities Planning Meeting in our Cafeteria.  The “Building on Success: Schools for the Next Generation” planning meeting will take place on Wednesday, November 29, 2006 from 6:00 P.M – 8:30 P.M.  This planning meeting will be integral in the future of Long Beach Unified School District in East Long Beach and throughout the City.  Share your thoughts and opinions regarding school size, academic programs, academic focus, technology in schools, school renovation and many many more items.

Best wishes,

Jeff
