MILLIKAN
HIGH SCHOOL
2800 Snowden Avenue, Long Beach, California (562) 425-7441
October 6, 2006
Hello Millikan Community,
Thanks to all the parents
who came to Wednesday’s Back to School Night. I have been at Millikan for over 15 years and I have never
seen that many parents on campus at a Back to School Night or Open House. Your presence on campus is the best way
for us to show what we are doing in the classrooms.
Yesterday, a bit of
Millikan history was made. Our
Varsity Boy’s Waterpolo team beat Wilson High School for the first time in 30
years. This is an amazing
accomplishment for Coach Fredrickson and his athletes. I think Coach Fredrickson will have
some difficulty getting his boys in the swimming pool because they will be
walking on water for a couple of days.
There are more bicycles
ridden to campus on a daily basis than ever before. We have added more spaces to park bikes in the center of
campus. Please let the students
know that they must park their bikes in those bike racks. This is the best place to park the
bikes because the security in this area is very thorough and we do not want to
have bikes stolen or vandalized. I
also want to remind everyone that there is a mandatory helmet law for young
people under 14 years of age.
Beginning Sunday, October
8, the Main Library in downtown Long Beach will once again open every Sunday
from noon to 5 p.m. The attached information may especially be useful to
schools in the downtown area. The first attachment is a letter to you
from the Library. The second attachment is a news release from the
Library.
The Ram Varsity Football
team posted their first Moore League victory against Jordan High School last
Friday night. I was very impressed with the way that our boys played. The Rams are currently on top of the
Moore League. Come out and support
our RAMS tonight as they take the field against perennial powerhouse, Poly
High. The game at Vets Stadium starts
at 7:00 P.M.
Best wishes,
Jeff
