Hello Millikan Community,
This Wednesday, October 4th,
is the 51st Back to School Night at Millikan High School. PTSA will have a short meeting at 5:30
PM in the cafeteria and classroom visitations will start at 6:00 PM. There will be food and refreshments
available for purchase in the quad from 5:00 PM till 6:00 PM. Our Custodial staff and Grounds Crew
have been sprucing up the campus.
The teachers and students have been preparing their classrooms. A strong bond and communication between
the home and the school is one part of the recipe for our students’ academic
success. Please make every effort to come and
visit Millikan High School and see the great things that are happening. I have attached a copy of the flyer
that will be sent home with your students.
I also wanted to remind
the parents that our daily bulletin is posted on-line. You can find the bulletin under the
School Information icon of the Millikan High School webpage at http://www3.lbusd.k12.ca.us:81/millikan
.
Today on campus there was
a disruption at lunch. The simple
story behind this disruption is that trash was thrown during the lunch period
and struck one student.
Immediately, there were two groups of students squaring off and
posturing under the 900 building. There
never actually was a fight and the bells were rung five minutes early. The
students were sent to class. None
of us like this type of activity
and we are going to do everything that we can to stem this aggressive
behavior. I am sharing this
information with the parents, because I know that the stories will be shared
tonight across the dinner tables of Long Beach and I wanted to let you all know
the facts.
The Ram Varsity Football
team will have their first Moore League game against Jordan High School this
evening. Come out and support our
RAMS tonight as they take the field against Jordan at Jordan High School. The game will start at 7:00 P.M.
All my best,
Jeff
