Hello Millikan Community,

During the week of June 4- 8, Advance Placement (AP) students are required to stop in and meet their new 2007-08 AP teachers. Posters will be displayed throughout campus with AP teachers' names, subjects, and room numbers. Students must sign in with their new AP teacher and pick up their AP summer homework and Summer Bridge info.

Summer Bridge classes will be offered August 13-17 from 9 a.m. - noon at Millikan High School. This is an excellent orientation to AP curriculum and it is strongly encouraged, especially for those students who are new to AP classes. As many of you parents already know, Millikan is returning to a 4 X 4 Block Schedule. This schedule is similar to the schedule that we had during the 2005/2006 school year. I have attached a copy of this schedule to this e-mail.

There have been some changes to the Millikan school uniform. I know that many of you will need to buy new school clothes over the summer so I hope that the attached uniform policy will help with that endeavor. As in the past, the student store will continue to sell Millikan spirit attire.

Finally, Mr. Petkovic’s weight training class recently took a physical fitness test that consisted of running five miles. Almost every student in the class earned a letter grade of “A.” Two students earned a B. Pedro Nunez set a new fitness record for men with a time of 30 minutes and 45 seconds. Carmelita Albarran also established a new fitness record for women with a time of 40 minutes.

The standard for grading is:

A = Complete five mile run under 50 minutes
B = Complete five mile run under 52minutes & 30 seconds
C = Complete five mile run under 55 minutes
D = Complete five mile run under 60 minutes
