Millikan Sports is on a Run. Go RAMS.
Millikan’s
girls’ water
polo team, coached by Tim Fredericksen, beat Wilson for the
first time yesterday before a large and excited crowd of
spectators from both sides. Yes, we have managed to “turn
the tide” and end Wilson’s
domination in this sport. Raul took his boys’ basketball
team into a hostile gym at Jordan last night, facing the top
ranked team in the area, and beat them on their home floor!
His boys now sit at the top of Moore League have beaten both
Poly and Jordan AT THEIR HOMES during the past week. Rod Petkovic’s
boys soccer team continued their winning ways with a victory
at Jordan as did Lorene Morgan’s girls’ basketball
team with a solid win at Jordan.

Special Message
Yesterday will be remembered as a huge day for Millikan athletics. We were on
fire (bad choice of words). I had the pleasure of observing three noteworthy
victories. In boys soccer, Rod Petkovic's team dismantled Wilson by a score
of 3 - 1. This long anticipated game, after many weeks of controversy and turmoil,
was well played with good sportsmanship being exhibited on both sides. In girls
basketball, Lorene Morgan's varsity girls avenged an earlier loss to a strong
Wilson team. Millikan looked great as it pulled away in the second half and
coasted to a big victory. In boys basketball, the boys continued their
strong league showing, soundly beating a Wilson team at their gym. Despite
the score being tied at half, Millikan pulled away to set up an important showdown
against Poly this Saturday night at Poly. As always, Chris Kinder and Gayle
Braun were at the scenes and working behind the scenes to support our coaches
and students. Way to go RAMS! Don

As many of you already know we started today off with
a bang. Upon
arrival at school this morning, we were greeted by the alarming
spectacle of black smoke pouring out of the basement of the
Physical Education complex. This was before 7:00 AM and
the Long Beach Fire Department was notified and they responded
promptly. More...

Happy New Year. We wanted to start off your
2006 with a letter from Millikan High School. The end of the
first semester is rapidly approaching, as is the beginning
of the second semester. During
the most recent rainstorm, we lost a few trees and the majority
of the buildings pulled through the rain with very little damage.
